Life Along the Waterways: Exploring North Carolina Rivers
Ben Casey has embarked on a mission to explore the major rivers of Eastern
North Carolina that ultimately flow to the Atlantic Ocean. In 2002,
he journeyed from Falls Dam in Raleigh to the Pamlico Sound to interview
the Neuse River. In the spring of 2004, he traveled from the headwaters
of the Trent River to its confluence with the Neuse River at New
Bern. On these journeys, Mr. Casey has not only captured the scenic
sights, he has also engaged with the inhabitants of the river basins
to glean a picture in words of the character of life along these
waterways. In this presentation, Mr. Casey shares photography that
documents the splendor of local natural environments and the anecdotes
from the people of the rivers. Through slides, photographs and personal
reflections, audiences will join Mr. Casey in his journeys down
the Neuse and the Trent Rivers.
